Cogo

Carbon insight inside the bank account.

Cogo helps banks turn everyday spending into estimated carbon impact and practical reduction prompts inside the banking experience people already use.

Selection rationale

Why it was selected

A carbon estimate has little value if people never see it or cannot act on it. Cogo places the estimate and the next step inside existing bank apps instead of asking customers to maintain a separate carbon account.

Cogo reports reaching 30 million consumers through banks including NatWest, ING, Westpac, Kiwibank, and ASB. OTP's Cogo-powered tracker recorded more than 600,000 visits in its first six months, and ING expanded its service from a 500,000-customer pilot to all private customers.Cogo company reachOTP tracker use, May 2024ING rollout, June 2024

The panel selected Cogo for distribution plus public evidence that customers opened the tool. Its carbon totals are category-based estimates, not item-level measurements or audited avoided emissions, so the record does not treat an estimate as a verified reduction.
